"Maya,
thank you, thank you, thank you for writing this book. I know your
name is on it and I know it says you wrote it, but I really feel
like I wrote it too! Thank you, thank you, thank you!"
-- Barbar Kryger, Kingston, PA. Mother of four
"Promise
me you will keep writing. Maya, you reach people because you talk
"to" people with your with your writing, not "at"
them. If everyone would follow your recipe, they would all have
kids like you do and realize that it all starts at home. Thank you
for not being affraid to address those issues that people don't
want to talk about, like they might have a problem with their kids!
I keep reading this book over and over again because I love reading
it! I love the laughs I get from it and I love the honesty that
went into it."
-- Rhonda Cohen, Reeders, PA. Mother of one, business owner in
NYC
"I gave
this book to my friends and they are all asking for more to give
to their friends! It's fantastic and it's what I hear myself saying
to my clients all the time!"
-- Eileen Cooper, LCSW (licensed clinical social worker), Wilkes-Barre,
PA
"These
are all the lessons that I tell my clients and my families because
like I said, 90% of what I learned about being a family therapist
I learned from Maya. I display the book on my shelf at my office,
and I don't tell clients that my wife wrote the book when they first
pick it up. What catches their eye is the cover. They see the cover
and want to pick it up. They usually ask to look at it, begin laughing,
open it up read it, and the parents usually say to their child,"Hey,
this is all the stuff I keep telling you!". They then begin
roaring with laughter at the drawings, begin identifying with pictures
and scenerios, and ask me where they can get the book. I then send
them to my wife because she wrote it. I love this book. I find myself
reading and re-reading it because I enjoy it so much and it's about
my family! How's that for a good book!"
-- Victor Manocchio, LSW (licensed social worker), Trauma and abuse
specialist for children, Wilkes-Barre, PA
"This is
one of the funniest and most serious books at the same time I have
ever read. It makes me want to have kids so that I can follow the
recipe and have kids like yours!"
-- Melissa Erb, student, Kunkletown, PA
"Whenever
I'm having one of those days with my kids, just like everybody else,
I pick up the book, read it, start laughing, have an "Ah ha"
moment, and begin again with the kids. Even my kids read and re-read
the book, laughing at themselves and their antics, and begin their
day again. When the younger ones are beginnng to stir up their wild
oats, my oldest daughter will usually say, "Mom, it's time to
get the book" and usually will! We all have a laugh, she'll read
a chapter out loud, and we begin again with the younger tribe of little
ones. The coolest part is that I wrote the book and my kids and I
use it when we our brains short out momentarily!"
-- Maya WindDancer Noble, CMT, Author of "Recipe For The World's
Greatest Kids"
"I thought
it was a great book. It was very hilarious. I thought it could really
change a lot of parents' lives and help a lot of kids because I
go to school with some of those kids. I even asked mom to teach
a class at my school based on the book because we need it there
so much! Mom sat us all down before writing the book and asked us
if it was okay that she was going to broadcast our lives to the
world so that there would be more good kids in the world. I thought
it was too cool that she asked us first, and then too cool that
she really did it! It's a great book and not just because my mom
wrote it. I wish more kids would read it and learn!"
-- Kristen Noble, Eight grader, Kingston, PA
What Maya does
in Recipe for the Worlds Greatest Kids is make it very
clear what NEEDS to be done to help prepare our children to be able
to learn in school. It sounds simplistic, but we all think that
our kids are ready to go to school at age five, when in reality,
they need to be made ready to learn, not just academically but emotionally.
She provides readers with a solid framework for parents and educators
alike. We have all seen children in our classrooms that are not
used to discipline, both behaviorally and academically. If parents
would follow Mayas outline, it would lead to a more positive
learning environment for all involved in the education process.
