INFORMATION
FOR AUTHORS
There are only two requirements to
become an author published by Metropolis Ink.
First, we have to like your book
and believe in it as much as you do. We accept only well-written
manuscripts with broad appeal. In fiction, we want excellence
in narrative, dialogue, and plotting. In nonfiction, we want clear,
distinctive, well-researched material on popular, helpful topics.
Second, we accept only authors committed
to working hard to promote their own books. We'll work hard to sell
your books, but we need the assurance of your help.
To have your work considered by Metropolis Ink, attach at least
the first several chapters of your manuscript to an email as an
MS Word document or Adobe PDF file and send it to: submissions@metropolisink.com.
In the body of your email, include a brief
synopsis, and tell us something about yourself. What is your writing
experience? Have you been published? What? Where? Are you willing
and eager to promote your published book?
We’ll
evaluate your submission and tell you whether we are interested.
We especially encourage submission
of nonfiction works, but are always open to high-quality fiction.
WRITERS'
FAQS
I've got a manuscript
I'd like Metropolis Ink to consider publishing. What's the first
step?
Read the paragraphs
to the left. Then come back here and work your way down the list.
Do you pay royalties? Yes.
The percentage and conditions are spelled out in our contract.
What
does it cost to have my book published by Metropolis? Nothing.
Are
you a vanity publisher? No.
There is no charge to the authors, and they are not required to
purchase any books. However, we believe that an author that is committed
to success will naturally expect to purchase many copies for promotional
distribution.
If
I publish through Metropolis Ink, where will my book be available?
Through MetropolisInk.com,
and through Ingram Book Group and Baker and Taylor distributors
-- thereby ensuring their availability at virtually all bookstores,
Amazon.com, B&N, and many other online outlets..
What do you do to help me promote and sell
my book? We
have continuing and timely help and suggestions via a special section
for our authors on our website, and we offer quick and specific
assistance and information via email from our Promotion/Publicity
Manager.
Can
my book be ordered through a bookstore? In
the US and Canada, any book store that orders through Ingram or
Baker & Taylor can order your book in. In the UK, shops can
order books through Bertrams.
Will my book have an ISBN
(International Standard
Book Number)
or a barcode? Yes
-- both.
How
are the books printed? For
printing and order fulfilment, we utilize the services of Lightning
Source and Ingram. If and when orders can justify a standard print
run, that will be done at no extra charge.
What is a POD book? POD
is a technology that allows books to be printed only as they are
ordered; one at a time, or a thousand at once. Each order is freshly
printed within 2 business days, and shipped immediately to the ordering
person or business.
What
is the quality of a POD book? In
a word: excellent. Our printers offer complete satisfaction. The
books look exactly the same as any other high-quality book.
Would
I be able to buy copies of my book at a reduced price?
Yes. Authors are able
and encouraged to order copies of their book at significantly discounted
rates. (Royalties are not paid on copies bought by the author.)

David
works in Castlemaine, Australia (near Melbourne), and is an expert
in publication preparation and production, and web site management.
Kurt works in Yarnell, Arizona, USA (near Phoenix), and handles
the editorial and contractual tasks. John works in Keene, New Hampshire,
USA (not near anything you're likely to recognize) and is our promotion,
marketing and sales right arm.
Metropolis Ink
is dedicated to serving
our authors and customers with honesty and respect. We believe in
forming a partnership with our authors, each utilizing the expertise
of the others to create a complete package of writing, editing,
